We would like to invite you all to an exciting English presentation detailing Patent Law and the Patenting Process. We apologize for this short notice, but we hope that you will be able to attend this very interesting seminar. Below is a more in-depth overview of the event and what will be discussed. The event is free and will be held at 5:30pm on 11 June, 2004 at De Anza
College Room m9 (next to Parking Lot B).
"PATENT LAW PRESENTATION"
The Iranian Federated Women's Club , Payvand, and persian Club at De Anza College cordially invite you to hear intellectual property attorney A.J. Gokcek discuss "patents and the patenting process". The presentation will cover a general overview of patents, the importance of patents, how patents are acquired, provisional patents, patent searches, documenting inventions, how patents differ from other forms of intellectual property, how to protect technology innovations, how to take advantage of this protection to generate revenue, and devising a patent strategy suitable to your business. These and other patent issues will be covered. The event will be held at De Anza ROOM M9 ( next to parking lot B), on June 11, 2004, from 5:30 p.m.to 8:00 pm. Cost is free. A.J. is an electrical engineer and an attorney with three years of legal experience in patent, trademark and copyright law. A.J. also worked for the General Electric Company for several years before law school, and has also worked as a radio talk show host in Santa Cruz and as a research fellow with the Pacific Research Institute in San Francisco. As an attorney, A.J. has drafted and prosecuted dozens of patent applications in subject areas as semiconductors, flash memory, EDA and MAC technology, Internet-related inventions, telecommunications, and software patents. A.J. also has patent and trademark litigation experience and has drafted several licensing, joint venture, and stock option agreements. A.J. also volunteers every weekend at Payvand School.
A.J. received his undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University in 1994 with a B.S. in electrical engineering. He received his law degree from the University of Arkansas in 2000. A.J. also received a master of laws in Information Technology and Privacy Law from the John Marshall School of Law in 2001. A.J. is licensed to practice law in California.
