International BioMed Society Presents:
Negative Results of Clinical Trials
“SEC & FDA Ramifications”
Thursday December 9, 2004
The prospects of drug companies are determined in large part by their success in winning approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for new treatments. Many drug company investors make investment decisions by tracking drugs in the pipeline and following human clinical trials. Stock fraud lawsuits against biomedical companies are one of the fastest growing segments of securities litigation and have resulted in recent high-profile cases. Moreover, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has been recently scrutinizing biotechnology companies as part of a wider effort to ensure that companies do not mislead investors by covering up negative results of clinical trials.
What does all of this mean for you? Our speakers will review the issues presented by the requirements of international regulatory bodies, the SEC and the FDA. The speakers will also discuss current developments as they relate to both public and private companies, offer practical advice about how to avoid claims, discuss why and how claims are brought and give advice on how to react if you become a target.
