IRVINE, CA – July 1, 2005 – the Network of Iranian-American Professionals of Orange County
(NIPOC) on behalf of the Southern California based Persian Community announces the 10th
Annual Persian Harvest Festival of Autumn (Mehregan) on October 1 – 2, 2005 at the
Orange County Fair & Exposition Center, 88 Fair Drive Costa Mesa, CA 92626
On the 10 years anniversary, this two-day event will attract more attendees this year. Many
national, state, and local community and political leaders are expected at the festival.
Mehregan (pronounced ‘meh-re-gahn’), is a celebration of nature honoring the ancient Persian
Goddess Mehr, the spirit of love, knowledge and commitment. This two-day outdoor family
event celebrating nature and the seasons, is a showcase of many aspects of Persian culture from
exhibits, art, pop and traditional music, folk dance, crafts, ancient sports, live performances,
movies, children's activities and exotic food. Held at the Orange County Fair & Exposition in
Costa Mesa, this event grows more popular each year with thousands of visitors. Over 100
exhibitors sell everything from intricate Persian rugs, Authentic Persian Food to modern art.
This festival is organized by the Persian Community Volunteers of Southern California as a nonprofit
event. Hundreds of people in the county's large Persian community volunteer their time
and talents to bring Orange County the sights, sounds and tastes of ancient Persia and modern

Poetry That is Life

The Mehregan Festival is proud to publish this anthology of poems for 10th year anniversary of the festival in Orange County California.
Iranian community has been organizing this non profit festival to share their culture with slogan of “Love, Commitment and Knowledge”.
Shoja Adel from the organizing committee who has experience in book exhibits and poetry events assigned for coordinating the efforts to publish an anthology of poems of Farsi speaking poets in Southern California.
Shoja Adel invited Majid Roshangar, Majid Naficy and Partow Nooriala as experts to form a committee to invite the poets and review and select the poems.
The participation of the poets and wonderful poems that submitted encourages the committee to continue such efforts in the future.
The past exhibitions represented the work of master Persian poets; Ferdowsi, Khayyam, Rumi, Hafez and modern Iranian poets Forugh Farrokhzad and Sohrab Sepehri.
Mehregan Festival is non profit event organized by NIPOC (Network of Iranian of Orange County) (sponsor), ICCOC (Iranian Cultural Club of Orange County), Khayyam Cultural Center and Iranian Student Clubs in Orange County.

Come and celebrate the largest Persian Harvest Festival in traditional Persian style outside of Persia. Our opening ceremony which commences at dusk on October 1st & 2nd, will take you back to the old Persia as we re-enact the ceremonies hosted by the King and Queen of Ancient Persia on the stage.
Come and visit our Persian Provinces, Traditional Teahouse, Persian Style Bazaar, Persian Paintings, taste Exotic Persian Cuisine, par take in Folk Dances and listen to Traditional Persian Live Entertainment. An array of activities are also held for children, such as face painting, hand crafts, storytelling, magic shows, carnival games and much more.
