Exhibition in Strasbourg

The Franco-Iranian association of Alsace presents the 3rd exhibition creating a bridge between Arts of the East and of Europe, Modernity and Tradition, Islam and Christianity from 6 until 21 December 2006 at the Protestant Church Saint Pierre Le Jeune, Nuée Blue Street, in Strasbourg, at the following times: Monday to Friday from 3 to 7 p.m, and Saturday to Sunday from 12 to 7 p.m.
Mr Esrafil Shirchi, Master of Persian calligraphy (www.esrafilshirchi.com), representing the avant-garde of the new generation of Iranian calligraphers, will present some of his works and will invite the public to demonstrations of his calligraphic technique.
Mrs. Maryam Zinati (www.maryamzinati.com), draws miniatures and illuminations, arts which often illustrate Iranian calligraphy.
This year on the occasion of the visit of the Iranian Master of calligraphy to Strasbourg, the Franco-Iranian association of Alsace in collaboration with the Persian Institute of Marc Bloch University of Strasbourg will present, through reproductions of manuscripts coming from the national university library of Strasbourg and the library Mar'Ashi of Qom, the evolution of arab-Persian writing from the VIIIth century.
programme:musical interlude, with Bahram Tajabadi (baritone). Traditional euro-Iranian songs, Samine Sahbai (piano), Amir Taghavi (drum, Daf), Mohsen Taghavi (tar, Daf) and Hamed Fouladgar (Daf, zarb). Reading of poems of Omar KHAYAM in French and Farsi
