Based in Los Angeles and led by virtuosi performers-composers Pirayeh Pourafar and Houman Pourmehdi, Liän Ensemble is dedicated to fusing mystical Persian music with a diverse range of genres. Forging a path and sound all their own, this critically acclaimed ensemble's ever evolving repertoire features traditional as well as original music that is expanded, rearranged, and examined anew at each and every concert.

A public lecture by Mehrzad Boroujerdi, Syracuse University
Mehrzad Boroujerdi is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the Maxwell School and the Director of the Middle Eastern Studies Program at Syracuse University. He is the author of Iranian Intellectuals and the West: The Tormented Triumph of Nativism. He is also the general editor of the Modern Intellectual and Political History of the Middle East series published by Syracuse University Press and the book review editor of the International Journal of Middle East Studies.
This lecture is part of the Center's Persian Lecture Series.
