Step into the world of the mystic when one of the oldest Sufi traditions presents A Sufi Celebration: Calling for the Beloved on Saturday, April 14, at UCLA. Glimpse the different reality of the Sufi Way through sample experiences of the traditional culture, poetry, music, and spiritual practices of Sufism. This exotic evening will include Sufi Zikr music- singing and chanting, presentations, poetry reading, slides of beautiful contemporary Sufi arts, crafts, and architecture, and demonstrations of the harmonizing exercise of Movazeneh. Sure to be a festive night filled with music, poetry, art, and love.

London-based comic Peyvand Khorsandi is back in the Bay Area for one night only. Five years after his hilarious debut at Julia Morgan Center for the Arts, Peyvand will be unpacking his wit with fresh cuts on being an Iranian in the West, riffing on nose jobs, metrosexuality in Tehran and his grandmother's love for Big Macs.

Peyvand, a regular contributor to iranian.com and the blogosphere, delivers cultural and political commentary with biting humor. If you're bringing your bored Iranian uncle to the show, make sure he understands some English. (In English with some Farsi.)
