The California chapter of the "One Million Signatures Campaign" will present their message and seek public support while celebrating Mehregan 2008, Persian Festival of Autumn on October 11-12, at the Orange County Fair & Events Center, Costa Mesa, California. Come and look for our booth inside the "Bazarcheh" and look for the canvas that presents a vision of equality which is displayed in the art center.

Please join us in demanding an end to gender discrimination by signing the Campaign's petition, taking part in our questionnaire, signing up as a volunteer, share your experiences at our listening station, provide financial support or give us your suggestions on how to further promote the demand of Iranians for legal gender equality.

IRVINE, CA – June 16, 2008

Mehregan Organizing Committee of NIPOC (Network of Iranian-American Professionals of Orange County) is in the planning process for the 13th Annual Persian Festival of Autumn (Mehregan) tentatively scheduled for October 11 –12, 2008 at the Orange County Fair & Exposition Center, 88 Fair Drive Costa Mesa, CA 92626.

Mehregan, is a celebration of nature in the spirit of LOVE, KNOWLEDGE and COMMITMENT. This two-day outdoor family event, is a tapestry of many aspects of Persian culture including art exhibits, traditional music, folk dances, crafts, ancient sports, live performances, pop entertainers, movies, children's activities, teen ager’s lounge, poetry, exotic food and a show case of the different provinces of modern Iran.

Mehregan is a non-profit event and created by Mehregan Organizing Committee, a volunteer based team with members of all age groups from affiliated organizations committed to community service. Each year hundreds of volunteers dedicate their time, energy and talents to bring Orange County the sights, sounds and tastes of ancient Persia and a flavor of modern Iran.
Over 200 exhibitors display and some sell goods imported from Iran, including Persian rugs.

We are inviting all interested individuals and organizations to join us as Sponsors or volunteers and get involved with this wonderful community event and celebrate TEAMWORK.

The most extensive and prestigious commercial exhibition of contemporary Middle Eastern art ever assembled in London is to be held in October this year. Organised by leading London art dealers Waterhouse & Dodd at two Cork Street galleries and sponsored by Europe Arab Bank, the exhibition will feature two parallel shows: Routes will showcase the work of 15 eminent and emerging artists from around the globe. Mehregan 2008 is dedicated to WORLD PEACE.



The organizing committee encourages participation of all to this event and promotion of event's theme "WORLD PEACE". An Essay Contest about world peace is organized through Orange County School District for high school students. Participants are invited and encouraged to attend as guests of Mehregan Festival.

"Poetry for Peace" will be held both days between the hours 3 pm to 6 pm in English and Persian.



Photo exhibition and display related to importance of peace in today's world will be featured.



We are inviting all interested individuals and organizations to join us as participants, sponsors or volunteers and get involved with this wonderful community event and celebrate teamwork.

Drawing on the art of Naghali (dramatic poetry recitation) ICARUS/RISE is a multimedia theatrical piece based on poetry featured in BELONGING: New Poetry by Iranians Around the World , connecting the myth of Icarus with the migration of Iranians, and the solitary journey of the artist/migrant in the quest for freedom.
